Fifth Assignment

1~ The project of my novel is, that once you have found that one person who cares about you no matter it being your grandma or your wife who ever it is treasure that person and treat them like you would like to be treated. In my novel this man Joe has had a very rough childhood and now that he is grown and is trying to live his life,he doesn't know whether or not to trust people or let them be part of his life. Joe has found this women who let him into her home and now he has betrayed her. After all she has done for him.

2~ The main conflict in my novel is character vs. self

3~ The conflict contributes to the project because, the character Joe is fighting with himself to let people in his life. Its hard for him cause as a child the people who were in his life were mean and hurtful to him. So now that is can make his own desions he chooses not to be hurt again. By not getting close to anyone or letting anyone get close to him.

4~ Other elements that back up my project are the plot, setting, and some what meteaphors.

Fourth Assignment

1~ The first thing I recogonized was a metaphor which was on the cover of my book, the title of my book is Light in August. This is a metaphor because the story is not about light in August, it occuring in the month of August but it's not about light or Aughust having any impact on whats happening in the story. This metaphor has to do with the setting or my book.

2~ An other metaphor would be, apparently arrested and held immobile. It doesn't mean that the man was arrested and taken to jail because be caused a crime. It just means that he read somthing unexpecting and he was shocked so he froze and didn't know what to do, so he just stayed still without moving a single in of his body like he has just been arrested for something.

3~ A symbol in my story is a mill where these men work and chop wood and scoop saw dust. The mill is a symbol of bringing people together because it brought Joe Christmas and Joe Brown together and now they are best friends. It brought Lena and Bryon together because he is now going to help her find the father of her child and get her a place to stay and help from Reverend Gail Hightower.

4~ No i do not know the project of my book is at this moment. i have not yet read far enough in my book to figure it out.

Third Assignment

1~ My books story is your basic story that may be not for a book but for every day life. AS many books as i have read, i never read one like this but in real life i hear and watch about a young girl or older has got pregnant and they don't know who the father is. They go looking and thinking who it could be. So, my book is based on every day girls seaching for the fathre of thier child, even if they do or don't know who he is.



2~ What makes my story old news is that you now that when a women gets pregnant she is going to go look for the dad she kind of has no choich unless she can raise that baby on her own. SO, a girl searching for the father of her baby is old news not new. You hear about it every day.


3~ Yes, i do think that a writer could write a book on a completely new story,but with the help of all the storys that have been reapeted so many times. i think that you always could do somethink new with the help of something old, it helps you come up with new ideas.

Second Assignment

1~ I think that the main character in my book is Lena. She is a young girl who had to grow up fast because she lost both her parents. She is now pregnant, looking on her own to find the father of her child.



2~ The character I'm comparing myself to is Lena because we both lost our parents when we were young and we grew up with out them and we are different because I have family who cares and I'm not pregnant.

3~ The thing that i see is a long road ahead of me never ending. I hear my feet walking in the dirt and a man asking if i would like a ride. I taste crackers and sardiens, i feel like i have no one who can really help me find what I'm looking for, but greatful for the ones who try.

First Assignment

The Book I choose was Light in August by Willam Faulkner, because my birthday is August and i thought i should read it.
